Marian

Highlight anything on the web, then ask your own library questions — and get answers that cite the passages they came from.

AIRAGChrome ExtensionFastAPI

Marian is a Chrome extension backed by a FastAPI service. You highlight passages anywhere on the web; they persist, become searchable, and an AI layer answers questions about everything you've saved — with citations back to the original passage.

Why it exists

Research tools usually make you choose: either you keep the source and lose the ability to ask questions across it, or you dump everything into a chatbot and lose the provenance. Marian keeps both — every answer points back at the passage it came from, so you can check it.

What it took

  • A Chrome extension that survives real pages — arbitrary DOM, single-page apps, and content that moves after load.
  • Durable highlights that re-anchor correctly when a page changes.
  • Retrieval with citations — the answer is only useful if you can trace it, so passages carry their source through the whole pipeline.
  • A FastAPI backend handling the library, search, and the AI layer.

Why it's here

Marian and Nands are the two products we've taken all the way to real users. They're the honest version of a portfolio: not a slide about what we could build, but software you can go and use right now.
